Three-piece bogie
Introduction
The three-piece bogie is one of the most common bogie which runs on rails.
It has become very popular because it is cheap and simple in its design.
However to make a good mathematical model of the bogie is not very easy,
the bogie consists of light weight masses, high stiffnesses and friction surfaces.
Download the example
- Download the tar-file three_piece_bogie.tgz
- List the contents of the tar-file with "tar tvfkz three_piece_bogie.tgz"
- Extract the contents of the tar-file with "tar xvfkz three_piece_bogie.tgz"
Input data files
- runf/empty_Master.runf
The reference file for the empty vehicle
- runf/empty_quasi.quasif
Calculating the quasistatic position of the vehicle on tangent track.
(Coefficient of friction in friction surfaces has been set equal to 0.)
- runf/empty_crit.tsimf
Calculating critical speed of the vehicle.
- runf/laden_Master.runf
The reference file for the laden vehicle
- runf/laden_quasi.quasif
Calculating the quasistatic position of the vehicle on tangent track.
Coefficient of friction in friction surfaces has been set equal to 0.
Moment of inertia in pitch for the wheelsets has been increased by a factor 10,
to easily find the solution.
- runf/laden_crit.tsimf
Calculating critical speed of the vehicle.
File runf/empty_quasi.quasif must be run first in order to give initial values to the other files
Secondly run file runf/laden_quasi.quasif in order to give initial values to all laden cases.
